Earth, Wind and Fire...

Some elemental images from the past two weeks. We have had a mild winter with very little snow. Will we get an early spring? Or get hit with winter in March?

Family Line

When I visit my mother in the nursing home, I tell her stories. I say, "Mom, you raised six children! Two boys and four girls. You sewed the girls so many beautiful dresses. You would stay up half the night sewing, down in the basement. This was your time to be alone, creating. And you loved to hang the wash on the clothesline in the wind and bright sunshine." Then my mother looks surprised, and says to me, "Really? How do you know these things?"

At Home

I'm home today with my cats and the hummingbirds, working on the second of the commissioned portraits. I finished one in my studio yesterday. I would love to post about what I'm up to, but it will just have to wait!

Ghosts at the Clothesline

A photo shoot out under the clothesline this morning, documenting portraits for my upcoming show. I am also getting ready to plant a bed of marigolds from seed, so that they will be at their peak in late October for the exhibit. I will be placing them around the gallery at my niece Michaela's suggestion. Michaela loves Day of the Dead and all its imagery and folklore, and tells me that marigolds bring forth spirits!

The Spell Has Been Lifted!

YELLOW.

BLUE.

Thunder clouds.

First brocolli harvest.

Finally, the wash back on the line!

Cilantro.

ORANGE!

The moon rising.
Oh, to see the celestial bodies once again! And colors other than gray and green, and shadows! Ahhhh.....
The relentless rain, wind, and cool gray skies duked it out with some desperately needed sunshine this past weekend, and it was nothing short of miraculous when that sun came out and stayed a while. Amazing (and important to remember) how profoundly affected we are by the light and the weather.
