For the past 10 weeks on Monday nights I've been teaching a class called Mixed Media Self Portrait through Continuing Studies at MECA. Among other assignments we did self-portraits based on myths, fairy tales and dreams - we made collage self-portraits and did self-portraits in reflective surfaces - we even did Tarot self-portraits after I did a reading for each student. Here are some images from our final crit last week. The class was small and intimate and the women involved did some powerful and deeply personal work. Cynthia Chang, a young MECA student, couldn't make it to the last class because she was preparing for her Foundations Review (I hope that went well!)
