Images from last week's Mixed Media Self-Portraitclass at MECA. I went to the library and took out several books about Romare Bearden's collages for inspiration and then we all set to work making collage self-portraits. Lots of fun!
Well, maybe not the whole school routine - just one fun class like this, though, huh? Looks like you're printing up a storm! Weee! Great stuff! I'm teaching Intro to Print next semester, so I will once again have access to the big beautiful presses at MECA and the acid baths!!! Yay!
I'm such a fan of collage. On Fridays we do centers in my class, and one center is an art center. About a month ago 2 boys made a collage together with no instruction from me. It just spoke volumes about them and they were so proud they asked me to hang it on the wall.
I am an artist, an art teacher, a mother of five children, and a grandmother of four, and I live with my husband and our two cats in the woods of Woolwich, Maine. I teach drawing classes through the Continuing Studies Department at Maine College of Art in Portland, and now privately in my new (!) studio @ 72 Front Street, Bath. My blog 'Martha Miller' shares my art, my process, and my inspirations, and my blog 'Not Bad Thing' showcases my daughter Lisbeth's artwork and process. It is also where I share my experience as a mother of an adult child with special needs. You can see more of my artwork on my website @ www.marthamiller.com
