Portrait Project Progress

November was very busy for me with teaching, substitute teaching, travelling, and then the holiday, so I didn't spend alot of time in my studio. This week I've had some time to work on the three portraits that I started in October. I'm trying to finish them before our Open Studio on Friday night. I'm working mostly on the backgrounds right now, integrating the narrative imagery. Amanda sent me some of her favorite photos plus a couple that I requested, to collage into her portrait. I need to work them into the background with some oil paint today.

I think I'm about done with Kate's portrait . I wanted to have her "blueness" seem to be coming from the background, so it is not merely a surface blue. I think it's working..
Tim's portrait needs more tinkering, but I'm having fun with his shadow...
It feels good to be working on them all at the same time.

As usual, stay tuned!

Yeah, like they're all just hanging out in my studio!

I agree with Sue--great to see them together. These portraits are growing so rich and luscious and beautifully layered. I think you're right about the one of Kate--it feels resolved and complete. I love the nervous energy in Tim's hands.
