Bees and Jokers

The second pic posted here is a bee image I saw on Juliana Swaney's blog yesterday and it made me think of this piece of embroidery that I made in 1973 when I was 19 and pregnant with my son Eben (top pic). It is a square for a friendship quilt that was never finished!! I copied the image from the Joker in an old deck of Bee playing cards.
And check out this other cool King Triton Joker!
It's like he's saying, I'm not riding on some teensy-ass bee, I'm ridin' a whale!

Strange how after a couple of mouse clicks and one finds oneself in another part of the web-galaxy.
Not quite sure how I ended up here but I do find your paintings sketches and blog altogether unusually fascinating.
...and the two faeries on the bees, whoa, that's got to hurt....

Hi Neil

Glad you found me! I enjoyed looking at your work. It reminds me of a Maine artist whose name I can't remember. I'll do a little research and leave you a comment on your blog soon!

thankyou!
