Today is my son Eben's 34th birthday. Eben, my oldest child, is a history professor at SMCC in South Portland. He and his wife Tracey have two children, Cecilia and Calvin. The photos of Eben posted here show him with little Calvin. Also posted are several portraits that I've made of Eben over the years. Happy Birthday, Eb!

A great portrait retrospective of your son! Your different stylistic treatments make it so intriguing to look at these as a set. The '97 portrait reminds me a bit of Giacometti's drawings, as it has that very sculptural quality.
That one I did with my left hand - I always like my left hand drawings - they have a much more energetic mark! Have you tried working with your non-dominant hand? It's an exercise that I have my students do each semester (along with many others to loosen them up!!)
Never tried it, but I will at tomorrow's drawing room session!
