Port City Life Ad

Taking out an ad in Port City Life in their upcoming October issue in the hopes that it will yield some portrait commissions! My new website will be up and running October 1st as well. Exciting!
The whole business part of being an artist is tough, though, don't you think?

It's tough all right. I'm moving ahead oh so slowly - but I coninue with it because I'm a stubborn s.o.b.

Hmm - I "continue" with it... My ability to spell has suffered under the duress of the art business!!

Yes, it is tough! Especially when I can't commit my whole self to it... being a mama and a part time artist is very rewarding but also quite frustrating! (ie no one to watch the kids while I 'pound the pavement' looking for stores, galleries, etc... just finishing work is a major accomplishment!)

Enough rant - love that drawing, wish I lived closer, I'd love to take one of your figure drawing classes!!

I guess we really must be stubborn s.o.b.'s in order to hang in there with this stuff! Even if we do sell work, it's still not enough to live on. Even artists that I know who occasionally sell their work for relatively big bucks (like say, $10,000 a painting) may sell one or two paintings a year at that price - they are still scraping by...
