Black Frame Quintet

I completed my Woman with Wounded Man series yesterday, and dropped them off at the framer. To punch up the color I added colored inks and a bit of soft pastel. I also re-painted the metallic silver and gold borders. I'm happy with how they turned out. I like seeing them all together in a row - there's this great drama happening between these two people. All the crazy emotional dancing that we do within relationship. Intimacy is such difficult terrain! It is very tough to simply be with someone who is wounded without trying to fix, scold, martyr, cajole, or seduce him or her.

I can see all these scenarios playing out in this little quintet. It's actually quite comical!

This Greg Brown tune sums it up:

Why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard,
to love, love,
really love somebody,
love somebody?
You can talk about it.
You can talk about it.
Sit up all night, and talk about it.
Yeah but it's so hard,
it's so hard,
to love somebody,
love somebody.

And it's so easy,
it's so easy,
it's just so easy,
to do the goat dance.
Yeah,
but it's so hard,
it's so hard,
to love somebody,
really love somebody(...)
Oh it's so hard.
Why it is so hard?
Why is it so hard,
to love,
really love,
really love somebody,
love somebody.
Ummm.
It's so hard.
Hard.
Why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard?
Why?

Looks like the lady is doing most of the dancing around while the guy aint moving. Maybe he's just very slow and she's very fast. Nice series!!
