Snowy Sunday

Sal and Jasper staying warm by the fire.

The woods sustain us in many ways. We have some magnificent old trees in the woods behind our house. The woodpeckers have at them until they fall, and then the chain saw takes over.
We got only an inch of snow but it is quite cold. Our thermometer in Woolwich read 8 degrees this morning. And with the wind chill...well...who's counting? It's just plain cold. Colder than a witch's tit my mother-in-law used to say. And a hot day was hotter than the hinges of Hell.
She was full of crude old sayings from rural Lakeville, Connecticut, and nearby New York State where she was raised.
