When God Was A Woman

A "dueling banjo's" of images from two radical feminist artists - one from the 11th century and one from the 20th - 21st century - Hildegard of Bingen and Judy Chicago - starting with Hildy and ending with Judy.

What is the word for things that resemble the vagina? The word that is the opposite of phallic?

I think it's "yonic." I remember this from a book on erotic art that I hoarded as a young teen. Lots of priapic statuary and "sacred space" (yoni) etchings. Wish I knew what I did with that book. It would be interesting to look at it with a slightly more mature eye.

I know about the word Yoni, but I know I've heard another word that is the counterpart to phallic, and I don't think that it was "yonic" although that would be a good choice! Doesn't it just figure that this word would be so difficult to find?
I remember being at a school meeting back in the 80's - a bunch of parents were opposed to having sex ed in the middle school curriculum. One of the objecting mothers said, "The word vagina is just too complicated for my daughter to pronounce!" A Mom who supported the program shot right back, "She can pronounce TANGERINE, can't she??"

Is it cillahp? just kidding--I don't know what it is, but whatever it is I'm sure it's too hard for me to spell and pronounce.
