More Proofs

I found out today that I will be able to use the big French Press at MECA to make my prints. Hallelujah! I have to wait till the majors are done, though, so I can't start printing until May 2nd. That's OK. In the meantime I am experimenting in my studio with hand pulled prints. I've decided that I like the straight black and white print the best. I might mix a black that maybe has a bit of blue and/or green in it. I have two big prints on the wall that I've been mucking around with, coloring them with pastels and then printing over that - lots of layers of color and materials(bottom pic). There's way too much going on in these but it's good for me to do this and get it out of my system so that I can make the finished prints clear and clean. I was thinking of making these prints reductive prints using two or three colors, but I've changed my mind. I really like the black and white best. I think that the color would be too much. But I do have more carving to do.

You like the blue? I showed these to Kaitlyn yesterday and she liked the black. Maybe I could do a midnight blue?

I'll put in a two-cent opinion and agree with you on the black and white. It's nice and clean, and your linework (cutwork?) is so nice, a bright color or more than one detracts from it. But a midnight blue (ultramarine + black, I'm guessing?) might do the trick, too. I'm glad you are going to use the press. This project is big enough without having to pull prints with your feet!

yes, these are definitely going to be single color prints. i can play around with some small multi-colored prints after this project!
