My sister Sue, her granddaughter Patience, and I, spent alot of time last month visiting Mom in the nursing home. She has Alzheimer's, so the past and the future do not trouble her... We spent alot of time outdoors, picking wildflowers...
Hugging and smooching...
Painting nails....
Patience being patient...
Ahhhhhhh.................. Singing songs, being in the moment...
Because, really, that's all there is... Edna, circa 1936ish.
A great group of photos. Your mother was and still is a beautiful woman. The face she made reminds me so much of my own mother, who passed last December, aged 99 years and 11 months to the day. I miss her a lot.
How difficult it must be for all of you that Alzheimer's has erased your mother's memory, but I love your attitude and spirit of acceptance.
I am an artist, an art teacher, a mother of five children, and a grandmother of four, and I live with my husband and our two cats in the woods of Woolwich, Maine. I teach drawing classes through the Continuing Studies Department at Maine College of Art in Portland, and now privately in my new (!) studio @ 72 Front Street, Bath. My blog 'Martha Miller' shares my art, my process, and my inspirations, and my blog 'Not Bad Thing' showcases my daughter Lisbeth's artwork and process. It is also where I share my experience as a mother of an adult child with special needs. You can see more of my artwork on my website @ www.marthamiller.com

Love that line from you.
And I love your frilly dress too!
