We are oblivious when we do something addictively (and yes, any process or thing can be addictive - reading, watching TV, work, sex, relationships, gambling, debting, shopping, video games, Facebook, internet, etc) that is to say if we do it compulsively and unconsciously to escape our painful reality. I believe Jung's theory that we are all part of a greater consciousness, and we have access to this while alive on earth, and return to it after we leave our bodies. Artists connect readily with this pool while engaged in creative pursuits...
My 2 cents...martha millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17847828956846494958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341967932815075836.post-18604186671762863072011-03-13T10:18:22.270-04:002011-03-13T10:18:22.270-04:00isn't consciousness just an escape from oblivi...isn't consciousness just an escape from oblivion?

i think video games no less than reading or art or drug use or any other way to peel yourself out from one reality and transplant yourself into another all preserve the consciousness in the process.

they just make it do strange, new, interesting things.

such is life. ;-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341967932815075836.post-52107957862077075902011-03-13T08:49:50.528-04:002011-03-13T08:49:50.528-04:00by "home," i believe she meant remaining...by "home," i believe she meant remaining conscious - so NIX on the video games! :^Pmartha millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17847828956846494958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341967932815075836.post-35736012503428340612011-03-13T08:33:22.116-04:002011-03-13T08:33:22.116-04:00art and video games.. ;-)art and video games.. ;-)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341967932815075836.post-64933578533608586852011-03-11T21:22:56.716-05:002011-03-11T21:22:56.716-05:00marc, i'm really honored that you sent this pi...marc, i'm really honored that you sent this piece to me. thankyou. you are right about the pain - it never does completely disappear, but there are things that ease it. like making art. twyla tharp said, "art is the only way to run away without leaving home."martha millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17847828956846494958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341967932815075836.post-19230430502519639322011-03-11T21:17:07.391-05:002011-03-11T21:17:07.391-05:00yes, sue. so sad.yes, sue. so sad.martha millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17847828956846494958noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5341967932815075836.post-76455555361104332092011-03-11T19:10:30.589-05:002011-03-11T19:10:30.589-05:00i'm so happy it made it in one piece!
