My Father

George Goodwin Simmons
1921 - 1998

My Dad died 11 years ago today. Here is a picture of him when he was around 18 or 19 years old. Thinking of him.

I remember going to a contradance with you and Garry and your mom and dad one time when they were visiting you. Your dad was some fine dancer.

I just read "Sweet and Low", tears streaming down my face. How I love your dad, Uncle George. :-)

He always sang K-K-K-Katie, Beautiful Katie! I sing it to my boys sometimes and they think it's so funny to have a song with my name. I thought that it was fantastic as an awkward little girl. It was MY special song. Your dad always knew how to make you feel like you were the only person in the room.

After his funeral, I was flying home by myself at night and our pilot asked us to look out our windows. There was the sky lit up by aurora borealis. I immediately knew that your dad was making sure I knew that my flight was safe and thanks for being there from so far away.

Thanks for sharing and making me remember him so fondly today.

XOXOXO
Katie
